[ ...it is nice, isn't it? for vax, it's just a reminder of how very, very human he is again here. he almost died, on sunday. percy almost died, on sunday. he saw his sister, the glowing, warm form of the most important person in his entire world, who saved his life. when this ends - because it will end - it will be back to the side of the raven queen. back to the life he promised, back to his time as a champion and away from the simple little joys of being alive.
... so why not enjoy it? why not take the chance to have the contact of someone else, when he won't be able to again?
his mouth quirks up into a smile against emet's, and vax moves to cup both of his cheeks in his calloused hands instead, holding him there. coaxing, always coaxing, walking that line of fire, or practically dancing on it. a little longer? ]
[emet-selch, meanwhile, never really allows himself these small things. he has his duty. his responsibilities. there is much to be done, and it's-- hard, really, to open up even to people who know him well.

...taking it a little further is a line too far, though, sparks a little alarm at the sudden swipe of vax's tongue. that touch of adrenaline is reflected, though, even if it's less intense; measured in things like this, it seems, hesitant but not in a withdrawn way. just-- unused to this.

[ he actually does't have to say anything along the lines of "you so much more than tolerate me" - just raises his eyebrows and grins at him, this terribly shitty little grin while he's still being held, and kicks his feet.
