and here-- it's different, surrounded by all these people he hopes to one day leave. but vax is the one person who's closest to what he's used to, and... well, honestly, who doesn't have such a huge difference in lifespan. he would never even entertain the idea of letting someone like that kiss him; it would not be fair, to them.
[ hmmmm. well. he can read a moment when it's happening, maybe better than most people, and he's spent a lot of time coaxing emet along, hasn't he? vax's emotions are still reading that fond, affectionate teasing, warm and playful - something a little further away, too, a quiet little longing that seems to follow him.
