[ gesturing!!! with the bouquet!!!! ] Ghosts aren't gonna come flying at your face if you're out of their radar.

[he's grumbling as he sits, settling carefully down on the ground, adjusting his mask.]

[ it's true though - the ghosts run off to go bother someone else now that they look very busy. congratulations on the floor emet

vax'ildan gives him a bit of a grin, mouth quirking up at the corner, as he unties the ribbon around the bouquet and lets it fall apart, examining the pile of flowers. there are tons in here, from monochrome sunflowers to roses and carnations to baby's breath. its a lot. ]

...'sides. I don't exactly look like someone who knows anything about flowers, do I? But I learned here and there. Never know if you can't do something until you try.

[ he offers forward one of the longer monochrome sunflowers with a fat stem. ] Here. Trim the bottom of this off at an angle for me.

[ miming swiping with sharp claw fingies!! ]

[he's just glancing at vax, there, watching his hand in a very flat sort of 'what do you even want from me here' way. but he's probably had to unsling his giant sword from his back to sit, leaving it next to him; emet selch carefully takes the flower between two fingers, then swipes its stem over the sharp edge of his sword.

it's decent, if not the Most precise.]

[ hands him another flower ] That one too. Make em even. Let's make these a little shorter.

[ speaking of being demanding...

after a moment of this - calmly measuring some of the thicker stems and handing them over to be cut down, glancing at the sword. ]

That your thing from home? The fuckoff sword.

I am not here to simply be ordered around as you please, you realize.

[huffs! but he does it anyway, if only because it does keep the ghosts away.]

It is, yes. Not what I would have expected... but it is useful enough, even if it is hardly what I would have chosen.

he's obviously being a little shit but doesn't mind, sorting through the flowers and putting them into piles so they're all grouped together, occasionally passing over flowers to be cut. ]

What would you have picked, then?

I'd have much preferred my own mask.

[he's wearing, like, a plain white half-mask for the record i think i forgot that. he'll keep cutting the flowers for him, though.]

I was able to create this one, at least, but it is not the one of my seat.

[ wild. looking up at his masked face for a moment! it's not... honestly, it's a little weirder to see a half mask than anything else. ]

[it's a little birdlike, actually. weird little mask.]

I take it she has said as much?

Not really. Just that everybody where she was from wore masks.

[ handing him another sunflower. ]

[and slicing it, before passing the flower back.]

She belongs to one of our researchers, yes-- though somehow, it seems she has been brought here without her creator.

[daggering]

Creator?

[ hm. he frowns, looking at the flower. ] A kid like that has a creator?

[ktiseos]

So she does. She is not a child, and was not born as such; she was created, fully formed, in her current shape. Something of a pet project of Elpis's chief overseer, though I am given to understand he is still perfecting her.

[daggering]

[ what ]

...An experiment? [ that's fucked up ] ... Still a child, though. In her mannerisms, and - still got a consciousness and a brain. She's a good kid.

She is still new enough to the world, I believe, and somewhat sheltered besides due to his work.

[a slight shrug of one shoulder, there.]

On the rarer side, certainly-- she is of a quite different composition than most, and we do not often bring forth creations possessed of free will. [so she does have that, but:] We cannot, however, bring forth life which has its own soul.

[daggering]

[ hmmmm.... ]

So free will, but no soul. [ ... he has to wonder, how the raven queen would feel about that. the thought makes him a little uneasy, though it doesn't show on his face. ] ... Wonder if that gets messed with, here.

People and things here that're -- not human, not like that, apparently are in some ways in this place. [ vague ] At least, that's my experience.

She has mentioned she needs sustenance now, where she did not before. In ways such as that?

[his head is cocked just slightly, curious.]

I cannot speak to whether there would be alteration to the soul here, however. Not with my sight dampened.
