[waves hand and mumbles about letting aki have convenient pc time
Anyway he will make his way back to marine!!! He looks--well, probably the same way most people look today. Sad, and hurt, and tired of losing people he cares about, week after week.]
vax doesn't reply to the text but that's not unusual. the door to his own room is locked, curently, but he's in the little kitchenette area, making what looks like a cup of ... cocoa! there are two mugs, actually, and when yams comes in, he pushes one across to him.
also i should say he's dressed in a very warm sweater and his nose is a little red. ]
...Here, Yasu. C'mon.
[ and then tilts his head towards the couch. let's go sit. ]
[maybe you killed estinien and you're trying to ABANDON MEEEEE
He shifts his mug to one hand, reaching out with the other to rub reassuringly at Vax's arm. It doesn't actually help, he knows, but it feels wrong not to do something.]
...Even against Aymeric-san, do you think?
[He doesn't like to consider the possibility, but--they've seen it happen before. It's not something they can discount.]
[ YOU KILLED METEION AND TRIED TO ABANDON ME FIRST? anyway yeah please scapegoat me tomorrow
it's nice, though. vax is a pretty physical person, so he doesn't push it away. and...
... the mention of aymeric makes him frown. he holds his hand there for a long moment, voice muffled. ]
... You remember back when we were sharing memories? I saw - one of 'meric's. He had to attack Estinien - he was supposed to kill him, because he got possessed by that fucking dragon. Said... I remember, 'meric thought - Estinien'd want him to end his life.
But ah... Yasusada sighs, but he doesn't look surprised to hear it.]
Mm. He seemed like that kind of person.
[Just like Yasusada and Kashuu, or Vax and Percy. Sometimes, there's someone you trust more than yourself--someone you count on to know when you're no longer of sound mind, and the merciful choice would be oblivion.]
[It makes him smile a little, albeit somewhat halfhearted.]
Yeah. [Partners, mirrors--whatever term fits best.] ...In our world, sometimes... swords can become corrupted. If that ever happened to me or Kiyomitsu... we'd rather be broken than turned into something like that.
[So the whole concept of "refraction" was never new to them in the first place; just different, and scarier, the way it happens here.]
he listens to this, tilting his head back and closing his eyes. ]
...yeah. From what I heard, it's not uncommon in their world either. And... it's sure as shit not in ours.
[ everyone saw the messy drama of orthax, played out live and in color through the executions. vax'ildan knew percy would prefer to be dead - he told him, as such. thankfully, it didn't work that way... and thankfully, it didn't work out that way for yasusada or kashuu, either.
he sighs. exhausted. ] Funny how that works, huh? That all of us got drawn here with that.
[Yasusada lifts his cup to his mouth as Vax speaks, nodding slightly because--yeah. Everyone saw so much more than Percy or Vax probably wanted them to. Just another way this place has toyed with them, but made so much worse by circumstance.]
...Do you think that has something to do with it? Something in our souls?
...Iunno. I think fate - and souls, both - is weird, here. But maybe. Maybe, despite all the shit that's gone on, it's a good thing that a lot of us met each other.
Yeah. If things were different, it would've been nice to come here.
[If they'd been able to come and go freely, with no refractions and no alterations to their bodies and their powers, then Yasusada has no doubt that many of them would've loved to visit this place, and its residents. It's part of what makes every week so tragic--knowing that no matter what, both killers and victims will be people he cares about.]
[ ...it's nice, to be able to talk to people, again. to have been able to make bonds - how lucky, truly, how lucky, vax'ildan has been. with all the pain and sorrow, at least there was some joy, too. ]
... 's nice to know they're all still around, too. Somehow. Who knows what happens after. Estinien's a stubborn ass. [ this comes with a huff, a little smile. fond. ] He'll find his way back to life somehow.
[It's so much more complicated for him--a spirit, yes, but one from a world in which the dead, especially dead humans, can't simply come back to life. A world in which changing fates leads to catastrophe.]
...I'm still not sure we'll really be able to save them. But I want to try.
Yeah. But, even if we can't... their souls still deserve to move on, instead of being stuck here.
[ and that's something vax, at least, is capable of doing. there's one other person here just like him who can do the same, so...maybe between them, they can get something done. ]

He looks a little concerned as he follows Vax over to the couch.]
Are you sick?
no subject
vax shakes his head, dropping down with his own cocoa and curling up a little bit in his seat. ]
No, I went out looking for information on the mountain, and got fucking blasted with snow.
[ to punctuate this, he sneezes a second later and then snuffles. ] Just got back.
no subject
Eh... the mountain again? [Why would people go back to butt mountain THERE WAS A PERFECTLY GOOD VOLCANO RIGHT THERE.]
no subject
Yeah. Iunno. If... had to guess, I bet that was Estinien.
[ which
hateful. he coughs, clearing his throat and trying to muffle it a little bit. ]
no subject
Yasusada glances towards Vax and Estinien's room, just for a moment.]
...Can I ask what you found? Anything?
no subject
anyway,
vax snuffles a little, wrapping his hands around the mug, and very pointedly does not look in the direction of his own room. ]
...Nothing, right up until we left and went to come back. Then we turned around, and there was a fuckton of snow that blew up right in front of us.
no subject
Yasusada frowns because honestly this just feels like adding insult to injury?!]
Well... I guess we know to go looking there, tomorrow.
no subject
anyway. yeah. it really does, doesn't it!!! he scrubs a hand over his face, just kind of leaving it there for a second. ]
'm sure Estinien wouldn't have gone down without a fight.
[ ... there's another little cough. ]

[ like vax and percy. like yasusada and kashuu. they're on the same wavelength, here. ]
no subject
Yeah. [Partners, mirrors--whatever term fits best.] ...In our world, sometimes... swords can become corrupted. If that ever happened to me or Kiyomitsu... we'd rather be broken than turned into something like that.

They do. [...] I was scared, when we first started thinking they might be trapped here. It doesn't seem like Aruji can get to us here, so... Buzen...
[Would be lost forever, if they couldn't find a way to free his spirit.]
no subject
Hey. I promised Buzen I'd be the one to find his ass, if things went wrong. Not someone who breaks my promises, either.
[ poor bu. ] We're gonna get them out of there. No matter what it looks like, we're gonna fix that. Okay?
