well his perception is not vex levels and therefore ruby successfully sneaks up on him. he jumps, a little bit, surprised both at being startled and at ruby. ]

[ because he was startled, though, ruby gets a look at his face
[ this is drawn out in the lowest voice he can manage, because vax is a big (?) sibling before he is anything else and therefore he is a giant bully. as he starts going towards ruby like a zombie with exaggerated steps, he reaches out for her -
and then laughs when she trips and hurries to grab her arm or something so she doesn't fall flat on her ass. ]
